A little over a month ago, I delivered this precious little girl. I was 39 weeks and 5 days along. A week before that, I had an appointment with my Obgyn, Dr Azhana from DEMC. She suggested for an induction because the baby is weighing a little on the heavier side. She was approx 3.3kg. Honestly, to me, babies who are above 3kgs are considered normal. I dont get why these days, people fuss about how big the baby is when his birth weight is more than 3kgs. All my siblings weighed more than 3 at birth. It used to be a normal range. I wasnt dialated at all. But was thinking long and hard about whether or not I want to move forward with the doc's suggestion. Truthfully, I was already very tired of being pregnant and wanted to get it over and done with. Ameer's family and mine gave us the green light when we told them, and since all my mom's pregnancy were induced (because we didnt wanna come out), it wasnt a big deal to them. I walked so much that week hoping that I will naturally go into labour, but nothing seemed to work. So Ameer and I decided to proceed with the induction. We were there early morning on the 16th of June. I was given the first dose of cervidil, and 8 hours later, I was only a half centimeter dilated. The doctor suggested me to get the second dose the next morning to conserve some energy for the right time. that night, i only had minor contractions, and bloody show. and after the same procedure the next morning, I was only at a centimeter. I was suppose to get the third dose, and when the doctor was checking me down there, my water broke. at only about one and a half cm. when your water breaks, you no longer have the option to be induced with cervidil. I was given pitocin with IV drip. I was already very tired from the intense contraction from the second cervidil which did NOTHING, so i requested for epidural with the advice of my doctor. :P My tolerance for pain is very very low hahahaha. Thankfully, I responded okay to the pitocin. 10 hours later at 2.30am while I was peacefully sleeping, I was awaken by an intense pain. I thought the epidural was wearing off so I told Ameer to get the nurse to adjust for a higher dose. The nurse came in and did another vaginal examination and she smiled and told us that im alreadybat 9 cm. She called the doctor and the labor room became really busy with nurses prepping the room. and at about 3am when the doctor came I was straight away put in the position to push. I wasnt a good pusher and 10 minutes in, my baby's heart rate was not looking so well, so the doctor asked me if I wanted her to help me and she did with the vacum. After 15 minutes of pushing, Raesa Aisha came into the world with very little crying. Thats a whole other story hahahah. So thats the story of my 41 hours labour. Im not done yet but will continue some other time. Bye!
